Houses on Meadow Way, one of Letchworth’s typical long, tree-lined residential streets. Each of the streets in Letchworth Garden City is lined with a different variety of trees.

Meadow Way Green

Designed by Crickmer and built by the Howard Cottage Society in 1914, this group of houses was a unique co-operative scheme for professional single business women. Midday meals were taken in a communal dining room, with tenants taking turns to purchase food and devise a menu, which was prepared by a cook. In addition, the landscaped front garden area was communally maintained.
